The Czech manufacturer of agricultural machinery, Strojírny Rožmitál, is launching a new model of front-mounted disc mower, the SD-28L, with a working width of 2.8 m. The new model expands the range of lightweight mowing machines under the ROZMITAL brand and complements the existing SD-20L model with a 2.0 m working width and the SD-24L model with a 2.4 m working width.

The SD-28L disc mower is a seven-disc front mower with a working width of 2.8 metres, designed for mowing standard forage crops. Despite its low weight, the construction maintains high strength and durability. Each disc is fitted with two quick-release blades and driven by a gearbox housed in an oil bath, ensuring smooth operation and long service life. The outer discs are designed in a drum configuration, with swath-forming plates located behind them to create a swath width of 1.6 metres. The cutter bar forms a rigid unit together with the frame. Machine flotation is provided by a spring system, and the mower is equipped with an impact protection system that swings the mowing unit backwards in the event of hitting an obstacle. For transport, the machine folds hydraulically by lifting the cutter bar vertically relative to the ground. Thanks to the optimised shape of the components and hydraulic folding, operation of the machine is comfortable and fast.

The SD-28L mower is equipped with a Category II three-point linkage and is connected to the tractor PTO. The machine can operate at a forward speed of up to 18 km/h, with a maximum performance of up to 2.7 ha per hour. All this with a tractor power requirement of only 42 kW (55 HP), allowing aggregation with common lower-power tractors or older tractor models. The machine weighs just 555 kg.

“The SD-28L model represents the completion of our range of lightweight front-mounted mowers. With a working width of nearly 3 metres, we are responding to the demands of farmers who are looking for higher performance while still requiring a lightweight design and reasonable tractor power requirements,” says Pavel Jahoda, Sales Director of ROZMITAL. “We believe that this new model will quickly find its way to farmers who want to harvest forage with high quality, care and efficiency,” he adds.
